Member Spotlight

CF13S is pleased to announce our Member Spotlight for the month of October is Kerrie Tidwell (aka Dr. Kerrie, soon-to-be Kerrie Lind). Kerrie was one of the first athletes to complete her On-Ramps at 13 Stars and has shown tremendous improvement in skill and agility, but most importantly, determination.

Kerrie is the kind of athlete who comes in to class and gets it done. She can be quiet and unassuming, but she is fierce in her drive and focus in the gym. Over the past year, she has become more confident in her lifts and has come to see something in herself that we all knew was there all along, she’s unstoppable. She’s a beast in the WODs (don’t be thrown off if she shoots you a look while you’re routing for her, that’s just her serious workout face) but is also friendly and compassionate, often serving as the gym’s doctor when members just can’t seem to get the right info from WebMD.

More recently, she brought that drive to change her diet as well. There’s a rumor going around the gym that she even turned down her beloved mozzarella sticks and started cooking to help stay true to the Paleo Diet. Kerrie is a great example of the physical and mental changes that happen when you dedicate yourself to the gym.

  1. Member since: the beginning! Loved working out while seeing the gym be transformed! But I think I really started coming consistently in Nov/Dec when I realized I really needed to change my life.
  2. Favorite CF movement: between good mornings ( they make my back feel so good) and HSPU. I think handstands are fun. Still working on the push-up part!
  3. What is something most of our the members do not know about you? Hum, well I have two different color eyes. Also I HATE clowns and bathtub drains.
  4. Favorite Paleo recipe: the Craklin Chicken by nomnom paleo and the coffee cake bread from paleoomg! To die for. I can’t believe I can actually answer that question!!! I actually had to debate too because there is so much stuff I like! Who knew? We’ll I guess y’all did.
  5. After a hard WOD I like to …lie on the floor in my house in the dark and quiet.
  6. Favorite medical tool: a massage therapist if we are talking about CrossFit. Otherwise, I really like the glidescope to intubate people with. Makes it much easier. Ativan and Valium are great tools as well.
  7. If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, it would be … Channing Tatum, hands down. and if I have to be an adult … Hilary Clinton?
  8. A zombie apocalypse breaks out, the first thing you do is … eat a lot. Then get a paintball gun and shoot them in the groin while drinking beer. Worked last time. (ask michael about one of our first dates)
  9. Do you prefer CF13S in the blazing heat or the freezing cold? Def the heat. I hate when my hands get cold and y’all make us touch the kettlebells.
  10. Any advice for people just getting started? Keep at it. Start slow, get good at your form. More importantly get comfortable with the movements. Half of improving at the beginning is overcoming your discomfort with doing things you haven’t done before. Once you get comfortable you will see big improvements. It is mostly in your head. I struggle with it constantly. Also, Advil, Advil, and massages. Hold onto the railing going down the stairs after a workout. Overall, have fun, meet new people, and enjoy how if changes your body and your life!
