On November 8, 2013 Sara Brothman walked into her first On-Ramp class with Julie after deciding her gym was not getting her to where she needed to be, and wanted to make a change. A lot has changed in the past two years. Athletically Sara has achieved every goal she has set her mind to, from handstands to pull-ups to a 100# power clean to double unders, Sara’s consistency in the gym and practicing movements at home has led her to October’s Member Spotlight. Whether she is 1/2 asleep on the way up to the steps to the 6:15am or struggling to walk back down the steps after her fourth workout that week, Sara always brings at least 100% to class and has shown progress that only someone with a true determination to improve can.

Sara has become an avid clean-eating foodie, regularly posting her dishes on Instagram and Facebook and has also gotten the competition bug, competing both as an individual and alongside a team in four events now with two more coming up! Congrats, Sara. As one of the original members of CF13S we appreciate you and your relentless pursuit of health and fitness.

  1. Member since: April 2014
  2. Your favorite CF13S memory so far is … umm there are a lot… probably whenever Dan says something extra creepy and no one knows how to respond.
  3. What is your favorite lift? the clean.
  4. Your “go to” recipe for a healthy snack is … almonds and dark chocolate.
  5. If you had to go to an Eminem concert with one coach, who would it be and why? Jenna…because I made her listen to the same Eminem song over and over again.
  6. What is the biggest change you have seen in yourself since joining CF13S? Aside from the physical change, it has been the growth in self-confidence and self esteem.
  7. What is your favorite movie? Finding Nemo
  8. What is a goal you have set for yourself that you are still moving towards? Doing pull ups really well.
  9. What is your favorite Paleo dish for dinner? Steak, sweet potatoes, and eggs- like steak and eggs but with eggs and for dinner. Yes, I know its strange.
  10. Any advice for people just getting started? Everyone starts at the same spot, no one came into the gym being amazing (Jenna doesn’t count). It takes time and you will be able to do things you never thought you were capable of. Most of the time, the workouts are more of a mental challenge than a physical challenge. You will be surprised what you are able to do when you stop looking at how hard something it might be and instead look at how you can make it manageable. The stairs never stop hurting, however it becomes wonderful when you can eat a lot of good food after a good workout and naps are wonderful.
