Week of February 10th

A lot to talk about! …

1. The order from Steve’s Club is in. Everyone should have received an e-mail from me letting you know what your lion’s share is. Please bring a check or cash with you this week for the amount in the e-mail to pick-up your goods. There was a 20% bulk discount fee which lightened everyone’s load a few bucks.

2. The Grand Opening is this weekend. The day is going from 10am to 2pm, and after 2pm it will be everyone’s job who is left to eat the rest of the food (and drink the brew). A few reminders …

  • Please remember that this is a food drive for the Market Street Mission, so grab a few extra cans at the grocery store this week, or clean out those cabinets, and bring some non-perishable items to the gym on Saturday.
  • We will be canceling the 5pm and 6pm classes on Friday night, so we can clean the joint top to bottom.
  • And if you are bringing a Paleo dish, please let Jule know what you are bringing, so we don’t have 15 loaves of banana bread. Although, I love banana bread, so I personally wouldn’t mind … just wouldn’t do much for our table’s variety!
  • If you are making a dish, try to avoid making something that needs to be heated up.
  • Look forward to seeing everyone there! … and bring some new faces (friends/family) who are interested in giving CrossFit a try!

3. The 1st Paleo Challenge kicks off on February 16th! There has been a lot of “bulking” going on in the past few weeks, so I hope everyone is ready! It will be starting the day after the grand opening, and Julie will have a packet ready for everyone this week. It will explain all of the details. Again, the entry fee is a stiff $5 (winner take all), and your final score will be based on five (5) categories. Not too late to John Hancock your government name on the whiteboard next to the bathroom!

4. Thursday is the Paleo Challenge benchmark WOD. The benchmark WOD for the Paleo Challenge is going to be the Angie. 100 pull-ups, 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups and 100 air squats. If you are participating in the Paleo Challenge, at some point on Thursday get your behind into the gym and bang it out (or it will be difficult to get any points for that portion of the challenge, and by ‘difficult’ I mean ‘impossible’). We are giving members the option to do a 1/2 Angie if you feel the full WOD is still too overwhelming for you at this phase of your CrossFit game.

5. The Rowing Fran Sprint is upon us once again! Last seen around these parts on January 9th, we have building up our skills over the past 30 days to see how much (not if) we can improve our time! Fran will be waiting for you all day next Thursday … don’t avoid her! Come in and see where you are at. If you’re still bulking … time to put that to bed. You’ve got four (4) days to clean things up. Time to PR!
