You will frequently hear the coaches talk about taking a deep breath, or getting into the “bracing position”, before attempting bar movements. I found this Catalyst Athletics article from ’08, “Breathing and Breath Control for Olympic Weightlifting“, which covers the science behind why this is so important in greater detail. Very helpful information, especially as the loads we start to move get heavier and heavier.
