Did you know that losing one pound of body weight is equivalent to four pounds of pressure on your knees? Excess fat—and even unneeded muscle—takes a toll on your body.

There was an interesting study done on LeBron James a few years ago. What they found was, at the amount of steps he was taking each game, his career would end at a specific date due to his knees no longer being able to play. The researchers established what his optimal body weight was, and how that would increase his longevity in the sport. Due to these findings, LeBron wound up losing between 15-20 of fat/muscle through a paleo-based diet.

It is important to understand there’s an optimal body weight to create the healthiest able body.

Too much body fat shortens life expectancy and also decreases your ability to move through life. Not fun.

So, it’s up to us to figure out what our personal, long-term goals are, and how best we can achieve them through diet and exercise.
